A Shift in Seasoning

Why my blog’s about to feel more alive

When I first imagined this blog, I thought I’d be the kind of person who wrote everything in advance. I’d have a tidy little bank of posts all ready to go, and I’d just release one each week while leisurely writing the next thing over coffee and cucumbers.

And I did start that way. I planned out Micro Monday as a six-week series. And I followed through with the whole plan—well, almost.

But I launched the blog earlier than I expected (which I’m still thrilled about!), and suddenly I was writing from the past… while living in the now. And honestly? That felt kind of inauthentic.

It’s really important to me that I show up here as me.

Not as some perfectly curated persona, but as the curious, wild-hearted, slightly chaotic human actually behind the seeds and soil.

Just me…

Practically perfect in every way!

Oh wait—no, that’s Mary Poppins.

I’m more like the wild and free one who shows up barefoot, with a handful of greens and a story to tell.

Lately, I keep finding myself wanting to write about life in the now.

What I just harvested.

What I just messed up.

What I’m currently using, or tasting, or loving, or learning.

It feels more real. More rooted.

More like walking through the garden with you, instead of reciting what happened weeks ago from a fuzzy memory.

🌱 So what’s changing?

From here on out, most of my blog posts will be more present-tense. The right-now or recently kind. Still thoughtful. Still me. Just… fresher.

That said, there are still a few posts I’ve written in advance—either because they were part of an earlier plan, or because they still hold something I want to share.

When those posts show up, I’ll add a little note at the top so you’ll know it’s one from the past. It might even become its own little nook of the blog—like a Seed Bank, full of saved stories and earlier sprouts.

That way, you’ll always know when you’re reading a flashback, and when you’re here with me in the dirt, in real time.

Thanks for growing along with me through the pivots.

Like the garden, this space is alive and changing—and I’m so glad you’re here for it.

Keep your hands messy and your heart open,

Mandy 🌱
